Priory is looking to recruit a Gardener to join the team. This role is full-time, working 40 hours per week. This role is based across five residential homes within the local area of Wakefield and is a fully site-based position with no remote or hybrid working arrangements. The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm, providing support and services across all five homes as required. Travel between locations will form a regular part of the role, so flexibility and the ability to manage work across multiple sites are essential.

What you'll be doing

  • You’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the service and to support the wellbeing of our residents.
  • Maintain a safe and habitable environment throughout the unit’s gardens and grounds, in line with quality standards and ensures that work processes comply with statutory regulations.
  • Carry out a varied range of gardening duties requiring minimum supervision and using own initiative, including weeding, digging, edging, pruning, seed sowing, plant cultivation, bed preparation and planting.
  • Undertake a variety of general maintenance jobs as required, with particular focus on the exterior of the building and the gardens/grounds.

What you'll bring to the role

  • Previous experience working within a care, residential, healthcare, housing, or similar environment.
  • Confident working independently while building effective relationships with managers, staff, residents, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to prioritise workload across several locations are important.
  • Comfortable using IT systems, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous due to the requirement to travel between homes.
  • Relevant qualifications for the specific role will be considered beneficial, although candidates with suitable experience and transferable skills are encouraged to apply.
  • The successful applicant will be reliable, professional, adaptable, and committed to delivering a high-quality service across all five homes.
