We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychologist to join two of our Hospitals in a dual site role at Priory Hospital Mill Garth and Dewsbury. This is a full time role of 37.5 hours with 3 days based at Mill Garth and 2 days at Dewsbury per week.
Based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, Priory Hospital Mill Garth is a level 2 rehabilitation service for adult males. They support individuals with a range of mental health disorders. We believe that anyone with a mental health condition should be given the best chance possible to lead a happy and fulfilling life, and our aim is to provide individuals with the confidence and skills to move or return to the community.
Based in the residential area of Earlsheaton, West Yorkshire, Priory Hospital Dewsbury provides level 2 rehabilitation services divided into two wards. Care is for male patients who have mental health disorders and increasing physical health needs. We also offer neuropsychiatry support, support for older people and dementia, community-focused rehabilitation, and support for severe and enduring mental health.
What you'll be doing
Both sites have compassionate teams who are committed to their patients' wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
You will contribute to the development of, and audit of services at your sites. You will work with a dynamic multi-professional team leading development of individual formulations and psychological assessment. With the support of other members of the psychology team, you will support the development and delivery of behavioural and other psychological interventions for patients and service users and provide appropriately developed psychologically informed guidance to reduce risks, aid recovery and independence. You will provide support and guidance to other psychologists, assistants and trainee psychologists. You will be working with clients with complex needs that are relevant to the population in the service area.
What you'll bring to the role
Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows. The successful candidate will have a confident grasp of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and at least two other therapeutic modalities, including training in an intervention appropriate for working with location-specific or equivalent disorders. They will demonstrate a solid understanding and application of therapy principles, with a willingness to undertake additional training if required. Essential experience includes working with complex clients, operating at a strategic level, and delivering highly specialist interventions for service users with complex needs. The candidate must also have training in clinical supervision, as well as relevant understanding, experience, and training in assessment appropriate to the environment and population. Strong leadership and management experience, along with proven skills in service planning and development, are also required.
