Priory Hospital Hemel Hempstead has an opportunity for a Mental Health Act Administrator to join our team. This role is offered on a Part Time basis working 30 hours per week over a minimum of 4 days, with flexibility to spread the hours across 5 days if preferred. Hybrid working arrangements can be discussed at interview and will be agreed based on the successful candidate’s circumstances and the needs of the site. The Pro Rata salary for this role is £22,356.80.

Priory Hospital Hemel Hempstead, Felden, Hemel Hempstead is a level 2 rehabilitation service for male and female patients with severe and enduring mental health needs. It also provides specialist Huntington’s disease and dementia care, as well as neuropsychiatry support. It is accessible by public transport, with Hemel Hempstead railway station approximately 1 mile from the hospital and local bus services nearby. The M1 motorway is also easily accessible.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the hospital and to support the wellbeing of our patients. While your role doesn’t involve providing direct care, your contribution is vital in helping to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you're assisting with day-to-day operations, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.

You will be responsible for overseeing the administration of the Mental Health Act, providing guidance and support to sites and teams on the interpretation and application of the Act, Regulations, statutory guidance, and relevant policies and procedures. You will also receive and scrutinise legal paperwork on behalf of Hospital Directors, ensuring that all governance, compliance, and quality processes are consistently followed.

What you'll bring to the role

  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
  • Good standard of general education, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of mental health services and relevant mental health legislation.
  • Ability to support and advise staff on the administrative requirements of the Mental Health Act.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and apply relevant legislation and current case law.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload and manage changing demands.

The following experience would be beneficial

  • Experience working within an administrative team in a healthcare or legal environment.
  • Previous experience working with the Mental Health Act or within a mental health setting.
