Priory Hospital Southampton is looking to recruit a Mental Health Nurse to join the team. This is a full time 37.5 hours role. Set within beautiful, landscaped gardens, Priory Hospital Southampton’s tranquil environment offers therapeutic and recovery-focused residential treatment for those suffering from a number of mental health conditions. We can support adult males and females with acute mental health needs, as well as eating disorders.
What you'll be doing
- You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to patients' wellbeing.
- We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future.
- You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
- Deliver prescribed care to a defined group within an agreed framework.
- Assess, plan and deliver, with the patient and their carer/family, nursing care that takes account of patient choice and wishes and acting as the patient’s named nurse.
- Accurately observe and engage with patients in order to assess their need and evaluate their progress.
- Monitor and review Nursing Care plans.

- The ideal candidate will be a qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with an active NMC registration, 6 to 12 months’ post‑registration experience, and completion of a preceptorship programme.
- They will have knowledge of NMC guidelines, requirements, and professional practices, along with evidence of post‑registration continuing professional development.
- The candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude, a commitment to change, improvement, and quality, and the ability to develop and use flexible, innovative approaches to practice.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- They will have a minimum of 6 months’ post‑registration experience within a mental health or learning disabilities care environment, with evidence of continued professional development in a relevant field.
