Hobbits Holt is looking to recruit a Support Worker to join their team. This is a full-time role. Shifts: Days and nights with weekends (8AM - 8PM and 8PM-8AM). Pay Rate: £12.60. Hobbits Holt is located in Ruspidge, in Cinderford, close to the Forest of Dean. Our home provides residential support for six people who have a learning disability. Hobbits Holt is in a quiet residential area, with off-road parking and no main roads.

Our team is dedicated to supporting our residents to achieve their full potential in social and educational activities as well as in their day-to-day life. It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.

What you’ll be doing:

  • As a Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents.
  • You will provide support with day-to-day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living.
  • As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.
  • Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care.
  • Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes.
  • Assisting with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals.
  • Assistance and support to attend medical appointments.
  • Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff.
  • Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams.
  • Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth.
