Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal has an opportunity for a Deputy Ward Manager with an Active Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council to join our team on our mixed Acute ward. Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal, Stockport is an inpatient mental health service for young people and adults. It is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes along Wilmslow Road and Cheadle Hulme and East Didsbury railway stations approximately 1–2 miles from the service.

What you’ll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team that is committed to supporting people's wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future.

  • Works as a Senior Nurse, ensuring a safe, therapeutic and inclusive environment for patients, families and visitors while applying relevant policies, statutory requirements and governance standards.
  • Assesses and manages risks, maintains safe staffing and skill mix, and promotes diversity and inclusion.
  • Supervises and develops nursing staff through CPD, mandatory training, appraisal and clinical supervision, addressing performance concerns and supporting junior staff and student nurses.
  • Provides and evaluates therapeutic interventions for individuals with mental health and/or learning disability needs, promotes collaborative problem‑solving and risk management, and contributes effectively to multidisciplinary working.
  • Acts as Named Nurse and Associate Nurse, regularly leads shifts, undertakes agreed ward lead roles, deputises for the Ward Manager when required, and supports recruitment and retention.
  • Adheres to all national, company and local standards, policies and procedures while promoting a culture of learning, development and continuous improvement.
