Priory Adult Care is the UK's leading independent provider of specialist adult care services. Our aim is to provide the right support in the right home for all the individuals we accommodate. With community-based residential care settings, as well as a network of supported living services, we support adults over the age of 18 with autism, dementia, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) and behaviours that challenge.
Loughshore is a service offering residential support to 15 individuals ranging from 18 to 65 years of age. We are located in Jordanstown, on the County Antrim coastline, in a pleasant area surrounded by private grounds, which our residents help to maintain. Here we support individuals with a diagnosis of learning disability and distressed behaviours, thanks to the excellent work of our dedicated team of more than 80 colleagues who strive to make sure every person in our care lives a healthier and happy life.
As a Cook working at Loughshore you will have a range of responsibilities, including:
- Creating, presenting and delivering nutritious meals to a high standard of quality
- Developing varied and interesting menus that take into account healthy eating guidelines and any dietary and nutritional requirements
- Assisting our residents in developing their life skills by involving them in the preparation of meals
- Supporting the provision of catering operations in line with the company's policies and procedures
- Working with colleagues in the Care team to tailor meals based on our residents' preferences and adjusting these based on any changes
- Carrying out grocery shopping and turning this task into a social activity when involving residents who wish to help
- Developing relationships with family members to cater appropriately for the needs of our residents
- Involving residents with seasonal menu changes with the support of our Activity Coordinators
This is a full time position, Monday to Friday, between 09.30am and 5.30pm. Some flexibility is available outside of core meal hours and can be discussed at interview stage.
To be successful in this role you will have excellent organizational capabilities paired with effective communication skills. Your enthusiasm transpires in the work that you do, and you understand the importance of delivering quality, nutritious meals to those in our care. You have a passion for cooking and you want to learn about the people you provide meals for while bringing new ideas and improvements to the table. Resilience is also one of your strengths, and you are ready to complete the necessary training programmes to recognise when a resident may be in distress (or becoming distressed) to support them. Previous experience in a similar role is essential, while a certificate in Basic Food Hygiene would be preferable.

- Access to a variety of retail and tech vouchers/discounts through our Priory Perks platform
- Cycle2Work Scheme
