Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal is looking to recruit a medical director to join the team. This is a full time role of 37.5 hours. Set within picturesque landscaped gardens in Stockport, Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal offers a range of comprehensive inpatient mental health services for young people and adults. The focus of our service is to help people to live their best life in a safe and supportive environment.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients' wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.

  • Clinical Duties (as Consultant Psychiatrist)
  • Provide RC responsibilities for up to 10 inpatients.
  • Manage own clinical caseload.
  • Lead the ward Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) and supervise the Specialty Doctor.
  • Complete annual appraisals and revalidation processes for own practice.
  • Medical Leadership and Governance (as site Medical Director)
  • Lead the recruitment of all doctors in accordance with Company policies, involving the relevant service line Clinical Director.
  • Lead on approving, reviewing, and withdrawing practising privileges for visiting Consultants in hospitals with private practice.

What you'll bring to the role

The candidate should hold MRCPsych or an equivalent qualification, along with Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician (AC) status. They must possess a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent and be listed on the GMC Specialist Register in their clinical specialty. In addition, they should have completed, or be willing to undertake, Priory leadership and management training. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong influencing skills, maintain a clear focus on delivering high-quality and innovative care, and be capable of working effectively as a team member, leader, and independently across a range of settings. Commercial awareness and professionalism are also essential.
