Priory Hospital Kemple View is looking to recruit a senior occupational therapist to join the team. This is a full time role of 37.5 hours per week. Located in Blackburn, Lancashire, Priory Hospital Kemple View is a 90-bedded hospital, offering level 2 rehabilitation, and secure services, for adult males. We can support people with a mental health condition and/or a personality disorder.

What you'll be doing

  • You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients' wellbeing.
  • We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future.
  • You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
  • Support the lead OT in co-ordinating the implementation of individual treatment plans for occupational therapy services ensuring treatments, activities and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication.
  • Receive and respond promptly to referrals, undertaking patient assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions either on an individual or group basis.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records detailing each patient’s rehabilitation/progress.
  • Lead in a specific area with some responsibility for service and team performance; creative problem solver; supervise staff/students; consistently undertake self-development.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient management of junior staff.
  • Maintain and develop close working relationships with professional and clinical colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring clinical practice is within national and local policies and procedures.

What you'll bring to the role

  • The ideal candidate will hold a Diploma in Occupational Therapy, or a Degree, Honours Degree, or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy, with accreditation by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • They will be a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) and demonstrate the ability to think critically and reflectively when making professional judgements.
  • They will actively listen to others and seek their views to support shared ownership of decision-making.
  • The role holder will also have prior experience working within an Occupational Therapy setting as a qualified member of staff.
