Priory Hospital Woodbourne has an opportunity for a Maintenance Technician to join our team. Priory Hospital Woodbourne, Edgbaston, Birmingham is a specialist inpatient and outpatient mental health service providing treatment for addictions and a range of mental health conditions, alongside assessments, therapy and psychiatry. It is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes serving Woodbourne Road and Five Ways railway station approximately 1-2 miles from the hospital.
What you'll be doing
The Maintenance Assistant will work closely with the Maintenance Manager to help keep the hospital safe, comfortable and well maintained for colleagues, service users and visitors. This is a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day maintenance of the site, carrying out general repairs and checks, identifying faults and helping ensure the hospital meets required quality, safety and compliance standards.
- Carry out general maintenance, repairs and routine checks across the site, helping to maintain a safe, comfortable and well-presented environment.
- Complete compliance and safety checks, reporting faults, damage and any concerns to the Maintenance Manager and ensuring work is carried out safely and within agreed standards.
- Support with site security and patrols, monitoring the building and grounds and reporting any incidents, damage or suspicious activity as required.
What you'll bring to the role
Ideally, you'll have experience or an understanding of building, plumbing, mechanical or electrical maintenance, along with a practical, hands-on approach and good physical stamina. You'll have a strong awareness of Health & Safety, good attention to detail and the ability to work well as part of a team. As this is a healthcare environment, you'll also need to be calm, professional and approachable when supporting colleagues and service users, including during potentially challenging situations.
