Priory Hospital Mildmay Oaks is looking to recruit a Healthcare Assistant to join their team. This is a full time role with a pay rate of £26,300 per annum. The role includes a mix of day and night shifts:
- Day Shifts - 7:30 am - 8:00 pm
- Night Shifts - 7:30 pm - 8:00 am
- Weekend & Bank holiday work included.
Set in a semi‑rural location in Hook, Hampshire, Priory Hospital Mildmay Oaks supports the NHS by providing low secure services and specialist learning disability and autism spectrum support for both male and female patients. We also offer adult and child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) across our single‑person, bespoke therapeutic placements (BTPs).
What you'll be doing:
- You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients' wellbeing.
- As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans.
- Undertake routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
- Provide practical support and responsive care to patients who require assistance with intimate personal needs such as dressing, bathing and toileting activities.
- Observe and monitor the wellbeing of patients ensuring that any unusual occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate.
- Provide specific interventions with patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse, including Observation and Engagement with Patients, escorting patients on leave, and being involved in de‑escalation and management of violence and aggression.
- Contribute to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in regular ward meetings and attend other meetings as requested.
- Assist in the maintenance of stock levels, including pharmaceutical products.
- Assist in the maintenance of ward cleanliness and tidiness and adhere to infection control policy and procedures at all times.
- Develop and maintain a good professional relationship with patients, colleagues and visitors.
- Help promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of the patient/relatives and carers.
- Ensure service users are gaining a quality service that is value for their money.
- Receive and convey information from telephone or personal enquiries in a courteous manner.
