Priory Hospital Ayr Clinicis looking to recruit a Bank Learning Disability Nurse to join the team.

Based in Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland, Priory Hospital Ayr Clinic is a low secure service for males and females with a mental health diagnosis and/or a personality disorder. We can support people from all over the UK. Lochlea House and Gatehouse are two stepdown services located in Ayrshire which are part of Ayr Clinic also.

What you\’ll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a Learning Disability Nurse you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.

  • Deliver prescribed care to a defined group within an agreed framework.
  • Assess, plan and deliver, with the patient and their carer/family, nursing care which takes account of patient choice and wishes and acting as the patients named nurse.
  • Accurately observe and engage with patients in order to assess their need and evaluate their progress.
  • Monitor and review Nursing Care plans.

What you\’ll bring to the role

The ideal candidate will be a qualified Registered Learning Disabilities Nurse (RNLD) with active NMC registration, 6 to 12 months of post-registration experience, and completion of a preceptorship programme. They will have a sound understanding of NMC guidelines, requirements, and professional practices, along with evidence of ongoing post-registration professional development. The candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude, a strong commitment to change, improvement, and quality, and the ability to develop and apply flexible, innovative approaches to practice. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, supported by a minimum of six months’ experience in a mental health or learning disabilities care environment, and a clear record of continued professional development in the relevant field.
