Priory Hospital East Midlands, is looking to recruit a Healthcare Assistant to join the team.

Shifts: Day 07:30 - 20:00 Night 19:30 - 08:00 Preferable 6am

Priory Hospital East Midlands, located between Nottingham and Mansfield, is a 28-bedded specialist acute and psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) service for adult females.

Priory’s acute and PICU services aim to allow more people to be treated closer to home and we support the NHS to repatriate out-of-area patients back to local areas.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.

  • Assists qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed to facilitate the wellbeing, dignity and treatment of all patients.
  • Provides practical support and responsive care to patients who require assistance with intimate personal needs such as dressing, bathing and toileting activities ensuring that such activities comply with procedures and the relevant healthcare legislation.
  • Observes and monitors the wellbeing of patients ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate.

What you'll bring to the role

The ideal candidate will be educated to a minimum of NVQ Level 1 or GCSE standard in Mathematics and English and will demonstrate an understanding of the importance of maintaining strict confidentiality, alongside basic IT literacy skills. No specific prior experience is required for the role. Due to the nature of the position, the post holder will regularly interact with staff, patients, and visitors both in person and over the telephone, requiring effective communication skills and the ability to exchange routine information clearly and professionally. Strong observational and listening skills are essential to support the monitoring of patients’ mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. The working environment can at times involve difficult and challenging situations, which may increase the physical, sensory, and emotional demands of the role.
