Priory Hospital East Midlands has an opportunity for a Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our team. Priory Hospital East Midlands, located between Nottingham and Mansfield, is a 28-bedded specialist acute and psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) service for adult females. Priory’s acute and PICU services aim to allow more people to be treated closer to home and we support the NHS to repatriate out-of-area patients back to local areas.

What you'll be doing

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred nursing care to individuals with mental health needs, ensuring their safety, wellbeing and recovery remain the priority.
  • Build therapeutic relationships with patients and work closely with their families and carers to develop and review personalised care plans.
  • Carry out comprehensive patient assessments, monitor progress and respond promptly to any changes in mental or physical health.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, effective care and achieve positive outcomes for patients.

What you'll bring to the role

Essential for the role

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with a valid NMC registration.
  • Completed preceptorship programme with a commitment to maintaining professional registration and continuing professional development.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills with the ability to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with patients, families and colleagues.
  • A flexible, compassionate approach with a commitment to delivering person-centred care.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding, medicines management and relevant mental health legislation, including the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.

The following experience would be beneficial

  • At least 6 months' post-registration experience within a mental health or learning disabilities setting.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team in an inpatient environment.
  • Confidence in developing, implementing and reviewing individualised care plans.
  • Experience supporting patients with a range of complex mental health needs.
  • Previous experience mentoring newly qualified staff or students.
  • A proactive approach to quality improvement and continuous professional development.
