Priory Hospital Ayr Clinic has an opportunity for a Newly Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our team. The role operates on a two-week rota:

  • Week One: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday;
  • Week Two: Wednesday and Thursday.

Day and night shifts are worked in blocks, with day shifts typically arranged in 12-week blocks and night shifts in 6–8-week blocks, depending on ward requirements and availability.

Ayr Clinic, Ayr, is a low secure mental health service for males and females with a mental health diagnosis and/or personality disorder. Due to the location of the service, access to a vehicle or the ability to drive is recommended.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team that is committed to supporting people's wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a Staff Nurse, you will provide safe, compassionate and person-centred care to a defined group of patients, working collaboratively with patients, families, carers and the wider multidisciplinary team. You will assess, plan, deliver and regularly review individualised care, acting as a named nurse and maintaining accurate clinical records. The role involves prioritising and delegating nursing duties, promoting equality and dignity, supporting the management of behaviours of concern, and ensuring compliance with safeguarding, medicines management, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty requirements. You will maintain high professional standards through mandatory training, clinical supervision, reflective practice and ongoing professional development, while adhering to the NMC Code and Priory policies and procedures.

Essential for the role:

  • Qualified Registered Nurse with active NMC Registration.
  • Knowledge of NMC Standards, guidelines, requests and professional practices.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and commitment to change, improvement and quality.
  • Ability to develop and use flexible and innovative approaches to practise.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
