Cherrywood is looking to recruit a Support Worker to join their team. This is a full time role.
Shifts: 12 hour shifts consisting of days, nights and rota weekends (8AM - 8PM and 8PM - 8AM)
Rate: £13.75
Cherrywood House is located in Weston-super-Mare, in North Somerset. Our home offers residential support to 11 adults who are on the autism spectrum or have a learning disability. Set in its own grounds surrounded in woodland, the service is located in a quiet neighbourhood, within easy reach of the beach and local amenities. Our team provide just enough support to enable people to live as independently as possible. We promote choice, focusing on the wishes and goals of each individual we support, within a happy, safe environment.
It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.
What you’ll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents’ wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. Your positive attitude and passion for providing high quality care and support will be your key strengths, but you’ll also have a friendly, patient and positive approach to work.
As a Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents. You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.
- Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care
- Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes
- Assisting with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals
- Assistance and support to attend medical appointments
- Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff
- Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams
- Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth
