Ardsley House & Cottage is looking to recruit a Support Worker to join their team in Wakefield. This is a full time, 36 hours per week role. Weekend work included. £13.45 per hour. Ardsley House is located in East Ardsley, near Wakefield. It offers residential support for 13 males and females with a range of needs, including adults with a primary learning disability diagnosis, individuals with a physical disability, mental health needs and people on the autism spectrum.

It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours to make a difference to people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.

What you’ll be doing:

  • As a Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents.
  • You will provide support with day‑to‑day activities while encouraging and promoting independent living.
  • Through a combination of practical and emotional support, you’ll help people reach their potential.
  • Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal hygiene.
  • Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed cloths.
  • Assisting with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals.
  • Assistance and support to attend medical appointments.
  • Observing, monitoring and recording physical and emotional well‑being, and quickly reporting any changes to senior staff.
  • Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams.
  • Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth.

What you’ll bring to the role:
