We are looking to recruit a Senior Support Worker to join our team in Wakefield. This is a full time role, 07:30 - 19:30 weekdays and weekends, at £13.95 per hour. Gateholme is set in the lovely countryside surroundings of Carr Gate, in Wakefield. Our home offers residential support for 39 people with a variety of needs, including individuals with a learning disability, autistic people, and those with complex needs.
Our team is dedicated to viewing each person as an individual and supporting them on a person-centred basis to create and achieve goals to meet their own expectations, to have the best life possible and to be as independent as possible. It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people's lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.
What you'll be doing:
- You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents' wellbeing.
- Assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of our residents and tenants.
- Provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living.
- Supervise and support a team in the delivery of person-centred care.
- Encourage people to live as independently as possible, while supporting them in building their life skills and achieving goals at their own pace.
- Support tenants in a person-centred way, which can include assisting with personal care, participation in activities and support with daily living skills, including maintenance of their tenancy.
- Act as a positive role model providing supervision, guidance and professional development.
- Plan staff shifts and rotas and complete daily administration of electronic and paper records with the involvement of the individual as appropriate.
- Support staff and the individual in maintaining their health and wellbeing, which may involve liaising with other specialists.
- Encourage the individual's participation and integration in the local community, through activities and interests that meet their ambitions and help them achieve outcomes in their chosen way.
- Promote an innovative approach to work and a positive culture, embedding the REACH standards in everyday practice.
- Ensure all colleagues comply with company policies and procedures.
