Support Worker for Autistic & LD Residents - Full-Time in Radstock

Bedborough House is looking to recruit a Support Worker to join their team. This is a full-time role, with shifts from 8AM to 10PM, including weekends. The rate is £13.75. Bedborough House is located in Radstock, Somerset, and offers residential support for eight autistic individuals and those with learning disabilities. Our home is situated in a residential area, surrounded by the beautiful views of Somerset.

We provide person-centred support, promoting independence, daily living skills, and access to the community, helping to improve our residents’ quality of life. Previous experience in a similar role is ideal, but we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours to make a difference in people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion in caring for the people we support.

What you’ll be doing:

• Being part of a compassionate team committed to our residents' wellbeing.
• Taking a personalised approach using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence.
• Assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans.
• Providing support with day-to-day activities while encouraging and promoting independent living.
• Helping people reach their potential through both practical and emotional support.

Experience required:

• Experience working with learning disabilities and autism.
• Willingness to learn and undergo training.
• A can-do attitude and being a team player.
• Familiarity with the Radstock area.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating, and personal hygiene.
• Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes.
• Assisting with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning, and movement of individuals.
• Providing assistance and support to attend medical appointments.
• Observing, monitoring, and recording physical and emotional well-being, and reporting any changes to senior staff.
• Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists.
• Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth.

What you’ll bring to the role:

• Competence in verbal and written English.
• A healthcare qualification is desirable but not essential.
