Bedborough House is looking to recruit a Support Worker to join their team. This is a full-time role, with shifts from 8AM to 10PM, including weekends. The rate is £13.75. Bedborough House is located in Radstock, Somerset, and offers residential support for eight autistic people and those with a learning disability. Our home is situated in a residential area, surrounded by the beautiful views of Somerset.

We provide person-centred support, promoting independence, daily living skills, and access to the community, helping to improve our residents’ quality of life. It would be ideal if you have previous experience in a similar role; however, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours to make a difference in people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion in caring for the people we support.

What you’ll be doing:

  • As a Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate the wellbeing, dignity, and treatment of residents.
  • You will provide support with day-to-day activities while encouraging and promoting independent living.
  • As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference in their lives.

Experience required:

  • Experience working with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Autism.
  • Willingness to learn and undergo training.
  • Can-do attitude and team player.
  • Familiarity with the Radstock area.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating, and personal hygiene.
  • Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes.
  • Assisting with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning, and movement of individuals.
  • Providing assistance and support to attend medical appointments.
  • Observing, monitoring, and recording physical and emotional well-being, and quickly reporting any changes to senior staff.
  • Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams.
  • Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth.
