Beacon House is looking to recruit a Senior Support Worker to join our team. This is a full‑time role at £13.95 per hour. Beacon House, part of Priory, is a welcoming 18‑bed residential service based in Melton Mowbray. It is home to Flourish, our innovative, therapy‑led addiction treatment programme, which offers tailored support for a wide range of addictions in a calm, comfortable setting.
What you’ll be doing
- You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents’ wellbeing.
- Assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents.
- Provide support with day‑to‑day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living.
- Help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.
- Supervise colleagues, lead team meetings and support your peers with their performance and professional development.
- Lead support planning and act as point of contact in the absence of site leadership.
- Assist with the management of site petty cash and client funds.
- Support with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes.
- Assist with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals.
- Provide assistance and support to attend medical appointments.
- Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well‑being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff.
- Support the development of important family connections and liaise with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams.
- Encourage participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth.
What you’ll bring to the role
- Previous experience in a similar setting.
- Good numeracy skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature.
- Empathy, understanding and patience.
- Ability to work on your own and as part of a team.
- Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures.
- The ability to anticipate and respond to challenges.
- Competent in verbal and written English.
- A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential.
