As a Senior Support Worker you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertake routine tasks and activities, and support residents to maintain wellbeing, dignity and treatment. You will provide help with day‑to‑day activities and encourage independent living, while fostering practical and emotional support.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise colleagues, lead team meetings, and support peers with their performance and professional development.
  • Lead support planning and act as point of contact in the absence of site leadership.
  • Assist with the management of site petty cash and client funds.
  • Support with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, eating, and personal hygiene.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed linens.
  • Assist with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals.
  • Provide assistance for medical appointments.
  • Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well‑being, reporting any changes to senior staff.
  • Facilitate development of important family connections and liaise with specialists including speech & language therapists and learning disability teams.
  • Encourage participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar setting.
  • Good numeracy skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature.
  • Empathy, understanding and patience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures.
  • Anticipate and respond to challenges.
  • Competent in verbal and written English.
  • Level 3 qualification in Team Leadership and Management (desirable).
  • Healthcare qualification desirable but not essential.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Working Hours & Pay

  • Shift pattern: 7.30 am – 8.00 pm, three times a week plus one late or early shift per week.
  • Pay: £14.25 per hour.

Location

Riverview, a 19‑bed residential home for eight autistic individuals, is located in Teignmouth, Devon, on the coast and within walking distance of local amenities.
