Prior’s Court is an Outstanding specialist school for autistic children and young people aged 5-25 with complex needs. We are seeking an exceptional Assistant Headteacher to join our Senior Leadership Team and lead strategic areas including attendance, inclusion, assessment and staff development.
Please note: Due to our location , a holder of a full UK driving licence is essential for this role as we do not offer transport.

The role of Assistant Headteacher at Prior's Court
Working closely with the School Principal, and wider leadership team, you will play a key role in driving school improvement, supporting learner progress and ensuring every young person receives the highest quality education and support.
What we are looking for:
- Substantial teaching experience in a SEND or specialist education setting
- Demonstrated leadership experience in an education setting
- Experience of working with autistic young people and/or those with complex needs
- QTS and degree in education or related field
- Strong working knowledge of SEND Code of Practice, EHCP requirements, and safeguarding procedures
- Can use assessment and performance data to drive improvement
- Is passionate about improving outcomes for autistic young people
- Competent in using digital tools for planning, reporting, and data analysis
Key responsibilities:
- Lead on the school's Attendance, Inclusion, Assessment and Support Staff Development
- Contribute to strategic planning and school improvement as a member of the Senior Leadership Team
- Ensure the school remains fully prepared for Ofsted inspection and external scrutiny
- Lead the development and implementation of the school's assessment framework
- Lead curriculum development within designated areas
- Contribute to implementation of the organisational strategic plan
- Monitor standards within the portfolio and implement actions where improvement is required
- Analyse attendance data and identify trends, barriers and priorities for intervention
- Work with residential teams, families, local authorities and multidisciplinary colleagues to improve attendance outcomes
- Ensure learning outcomes are effectively evidenced and communicated to stakeholders
- Support succession planning and talent development
