As a Computing Teacher – Learning Lead, you will deliver ambitious programmes of learning that uniquely support and challenge each young person to develop key skills to enable autistic young people with complex needs to live healthy, happy, independent lives after leaving Prior’s Court.
Please note: Due to our location, a holder of a full UK driving licence is essential for this role as we do not offer transport.
The role involves:
- Managing assessment, timetabling, planning and development of individual learning plans.
- Guiding learning to ensure students achieve their individual "I Can" statements and develop their Learning Journeys within relevant Areas of Learning.
- Ensuring the long-term and medium-term plans for the identified Area of Learning / learning programme are relevant and up to date.
- Continually improving outcomes through coaching and mentoring of staff to ensure excellent teaching and learning practices.
- Monitoring the delivery of learning in an Area of Learning or Learning Programme, ensuring it meets the needs of all learners.
- Supporting staff (e.g., Teachers, tutors, Autism Practitioners) to develop their knowledge and skills in teaching and learning.
- Line management and supervision of Teachers/Tutors and supporting the team to manage their well-being.
- Planning and delivering tutor sessions to a cohort.
- Developing autism friendly strategies (Prior Approach) to support young people, ensuring implementation/use of strategies and evaluating their impact.
- Adhering to regular use of progress cycle and ensuring that progress of young people is communicated to all interested stakeholders (young people, parents/carers, staff, placing authorities).
- Using Prior’s Court assessment and progress tracking system to measure progress for cohort and Area of Learning/Learning Programme.
What we are looking for:
- QTS.
- Experience of teaching children/young adults with autistic spectrum condition or with complex additional needs.
- Experience of using a range of assessment tools relevant to the needs of individuals with autistic spectrum condition / complex needs.
- Experience teaching in a SEN provision or school.
- Knowledge of IT subject area.
- Able to plan, deliver and assess outcomes for children and/or young people.
