As a Computing Teacher, you will deliver ambitious programmes of learning that uniquely support and challenge each young person to develop key skills to enable young people to live healthy, happy, independent lives after leaving Prior’s Court.

Please note: Due to our location, a holder of a full UK driving licence is essential for this role as we do not offer transport.

The role of IT Teacher at Prior's Court includes:

  • Managing assessment, timetabling, planning and development of individual learning plans.
  • Guiding learning to ensure students achieve their individual "I can" statements and develop their learning journeys within relevant Areas of Learning.
  • Taking responsibility for the overall progress of each young person of all ages within the computing curriculum.
  • Adapting the curriculum to meet individual needs, monitoring progress, and delivering computing sessions.
  • Following and delivering (long-term) planning as agreed with Area of Learning Leads.
  • Monitoring the delivery of learning in an Area of Learning or Learning Programme, ensuring it meets the needs of all learners.
  • Monitoring young people’s timetables ensuring they are accessing planned sessions.
  • Developing autism friendly strategies (Prior Approach) to support young people, ensuring implementation/use of strategies and evaluating their impact.
  • Ensuring the admissions process for new young people joining Prior’s Court is fully completed with all relevant information for the cohort.
  • Adhering to regular use of progress cycle and communicating the progress of young people to all interested stakeholders (young people, parents/carers, staff, placing authorities).
  • Participating in regular reviews of the Prior's Court Learning Framework and its impact.
  • Participating in the ordering, budget management and maintenance of Learning Programme-specific equipment and resources to support young people’s learning.

What we are looking for:

  • QTS
  • Experience of teaching children/young adults with autistic spectrum disorder or complex needs (could be in a mainstream environment).
  • Experience using a range of assessment tools relevant to the needs of autistic individuals.
  • A passion for Information Technology.
  • Able to plan, deliver and assess outcomes for children and/or young people.
  • Experience in a SEN provision or school (preferred but not essential).
