Due to continued growth, our client is looking to recruit experienced Telephone Collectors to join their expanding team. Key Responsibilities as a Telephone Collector:
- Making and receiving telephone calls from businesses and individuals regarding outstanding debts
- Negotiating repayment arrangements that are affordable and sustainable for customers
- Handling customer queries, disputes, and difficult conversations professionally and sensitively
- Gathering accurate customer information to complete affordability assessments
- Recording conversations, customer information, and repayment agreements accurately on internal systems
- Working efficiently using dialler systems and other customer management technologies
- Following company processes and debt collection guidelines to ensure customers are treated fairly
- Resolving customer issues and identifying suitable solutions for both customers and clients
- Managing workloads effectively while maintaining high standards of accuracy and customer service
- Working towards individual and team performance targets
- Building positive relationships with customers while achieving successful collection outcomes
Skills Needed as a Telephone Collector:
- Previous experience within a call centre, credit control, collections, debt recovery, or sales environment
- Ideally a minimum of 2 years' experience within collections, debt recovery, or a target-driven role
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Confidence in making and receiving telephone calls
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to handle difficult and sensitive conversations professionally
- Comfortable working towards targets and performance objectives
- Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records
- Strong IT skills and the ability to quickly learn new systems and technologies
- Experience using dialler systems would be advantageous
- Ability to assess customer affordability and identify sustainable repayment solutions
- Resilient, motivated, and able to remain professional in challenging situations
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Working Hours:
You will be required to work shifts between the following hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 8:00pm
- Friday: 8:00am – 5:30pm
- Weekends: 8:00am – 1:00pm
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, permanent, office-based position located in Sheffield. Successful applicants will be required to attend the office during normal working hours and as requested by the business.
The successful applicant will also be required to undertake a DBS check, CCJ check, and other relevant background screening checks prior to commencing employment.
