Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our client during a period of growth in the business. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a solid background in legal collections who is looking to further develop their career in litigation. You will be responsible for managing a defended caseload and working with clients, courts, and enforcement agencies to pursue legal action for debt recovery.

Key Responsibilities of a Litigation Paralegal

  • Personal management of a defended caseload via a case management system.
  • Review high-value or complex pre-legal debts to assess suitability for legal action.
  • Pursue defended claims through small claims, fast track including drafting pleadings, witness statements, and preparing court bundles.
  • Advise and liaise with clients on legal matters, assess prospects for successful recovery, and assist with overcoming disputes or reasons for non-payment.
  • Work with courts, enforcement agencies, and external suppliers to maintain high service standards.
  • Handle bankruptcy and winding-up petitions, as well as return of goods claims.
  • Perform additional legal duties as required.

Requirements of a Litigation Paralegal

  • A law degree is preferred, along with practical experience in legal collections.
  • Previous experience managing a defended caseload, particularly in the Small Claims Track, is highly advantageous.
  • Strong IT skills and the ability to adapt quickly to new systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to negotiate solutions with customers.
  • Confident in making and receiving telephone calls, with clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Target-driven with a track record of achieving success and earning based on performance.
  • Confidence to deal with a variety of people in different situations.
