We are recruiting an experienced Team Leader to support a specialist complex care package for a young man with complex health needs living at home in the Wirral. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who is passionate about person-centred, compassionate care and who can provide calm, consistent leadership to a small, dedicated team.

You will lead by example, ensuring care is delivered with dignity, empathy and respect, while supporting staff to grow in confidence and skill. The Team Leader will attend shifts first, be involved in the recruitment of a small team and ensure safe, consistent practice and effective oversight.

Working Hours & Structure

This is a day-based leadership role, working 30hrs per week across 2.5 days alongside a 2nd Team leader sharing responsibility. Typical working pattern includes:

  • Approximately 08:00 - 20:00, with mid-week handover
  • Overseeing morning and evening staff handovers
  • Occasionally supporting or advising around night support if required

About the Service User

You will be supporting a young man with complex health needs, including:

  • Support with personal care and hygiene
  • Medications
  • Seizure management
  • Nutrition support
  • Moving and handling, including hoists and slings
  • Non-verbal communication and neuro disability
  • Calm, reassuring support
  • Sensory interaction
  • Time outdoors
  • Meaningful, relationship-based care

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the support worker team to guide and mentor
  • Liaising with family members and professionals
  • Responding to the needs of the service throughout the day
  • Observing practice and ensuring staff are trained and confident
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for a small team
  • Ensure safe, high-quality, person-centred care is delivered consistently
  • Support staff inductions, job shadowing, and competencies
  • Promote safe practices and ongoing learning
  • Oversee support plans, risk assessments, and documentation
  • Promote a positive, calm and empathetic team culture

Experience & Skills Required

  • Minimum NVQ Level 4 (or above) in Health & Social Care
  • 5+ years experience in complex care and team leading
  • Experience supporting neurological conditions and epilepsy
  • Confident with moving and handling, including hoists and slings
  • Confident in clinical care tasks such as PEG feeding
  • A calm, empathetic and confident leadership style
  • Excellent verbal communication and recording skills
