The Role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Female Support Worker to join a dedicated team supporting a 20-year-old female living with Cerebral Palsy in her own home in the Garstang area. This is a rewarding complex care role for someone enthusiastic, motivated, flexible and passionate about supporting a young person to maintain her independence, enjoy an active lifestyle and get the most out of everyday life.
Our client enjoys getting out into the community, including shopping, going to the cinema and quiz nights, as well as spending time socialising with friends. She also enjoys indoor activities such as playing games with her younger brothers, pamper sessions and listening to music. Her days can include a range of therapy and rehabilitation activities, including hydrotherapy, using her movement harness and passive stretches.
As well as supporting her with day-to-day activities, you will provide assistance with her personal care and clinical needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as she uses alternative communication techniques but enjoys socialising and engaging with those around her.
Client & Role
This is a complex care package where the successful Support Worker will provide support with:
- PEG feeding and nutrition
- Medication administration
- Seizure management
- Respiratory care
- Personal care
- Continence care
- Mobility and physical management
- Supporting therapy and rehabilitation programmes
- Maintaining a healthy sleep pattern
- Supporting community activities and leisure
- Driving the client's adapted vehicle
- Maintaining a safe environment at home and in the community
- Cleaning and maintaining care equipment
- Supporting hospital and therapy appointments
- Completing daily records, medication records, timesheets and incident reports
- Liaising with family members and other professionals where required
You will be fully trained in all aspects of the client's clinical care and will receive ongoing support and supervision from the management team.

The Successful Applicant will:
- Be Female, due to the personal care requirements of the role
- Hold a full and clean UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle
- Have previous experience working as a Support Worker or Healthcare Assistant
- Have experience with PEG feeding (preferred)
- Have experience in complex care and/or supporting individuals with physical disabilities
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be confident working independently
- Be reliable, professional and able to maintain appropriate boundaries
- Be a non-smoker, in line with the client's preference
- Be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check
