Pay rate: ÂŁ35,152 per annum

Job Type: Full‑time

Shift and schedule: 160 hours per month (average 40 hours per week). Rota basis: 2 days on + sleep‑in, followed by 4 days off.

The Deputy Manager is a key leadership role supporting children and young people within a residential care setting, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and operational excellence. The role supports the Registered Manager, leads the team, and helps young people achieve positive outcomes.

  • Ensuring compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities

  • Managing the home and deputising in the Manager’s absence
  • Leading shifts and providing guidance and direction to staff
  • Supervising staff performance and supporting development
  • Ensuring safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times
  • Supporting care planning, reviews, and outcomes for young people
  • Managing health & safety processes and risk assessments within the home
  • Supporting audits, inspections (Ofsted), and quality assurance processes
  • Liaising with external professionals including local authorities, schools, and health services
  • Supporting budget awareness and resource management within the home
  • Leading and supporting staff induction, training, and ongoing development

Household Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the home environment is safe, welcoming, and well‑maintained
  • Supporting high standards of care, structure, and routine
  • Promoting a positive and homely environment for young people

Successful Candidate

  • Previous experience in children’s residential care (essential)
  • Experience in a senior or leadership role (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and Children’s Homes Regulations
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team
  • Confident decision‑maker with a calm and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Flexible to work shifts, including sleep‑ins and weekends
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
