Essential requirements:

  • Hands-on, demonstrable experience in Mineral Exploration Drilling
  • Experienced working with core sizes: AQ, AQTK, BQ, BQTK, NQ, H underground or surface
  • Strong communication skills
  • Willingness to travel
  • Clean, valid driving license
  • Valid permission to work in the UK

Desirable:

  • Directional/Navigational drilling
  • Have completed drilling operations over 1,000 metres
  • Use of zero trip wedges
  • Training provided in all of the above if the candidate has no experience.

Responsibilities:

  • The driller is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the drill rig, supervision of the drill crew and operation of all associated drilling tools and equipment.
  • Set up of the drill rig, ensuring correct alignment with front and back sights, set up of drill angle and collaring the hole to the client's requirements.
  • Drilling the hole to total depth whilst maintaining maximum core recovery and ensuring that drilling progress is commensurate with the ground conditions and depth of the hole.
  • Survey the hole utilising surveying tools at depths required by the client.
