Essential requirements:
- Hands-on, demonstrable experience in Mineral Exploration Drilling
- Experienced working with core sizes: AQ, AQTK, BQ, BQTK, NQ, H underground or surface
- Strong communication skills
- Willingness to travel
- Clean, valid driving license
- Valid permission to work in the UK
Desirable:
- Directional/Navigational drilling
- Have completed drilling operations over 1,000 metres
- Use of zero trip wedges
- Training provided in all of the above if the candidate has no experience.
Responsibilities:
The driller is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the drill rig, supervision of the drill crew and operation of all associated drilling tools and equipment. Set up of the drill rig, ensuring correct alignment with front and back sights, set up of drill angle and collaring the hole to the client’s requirements. Drilling the hole to total depth whilst maintaining maximum core recovery and ensuring that drilling progress is commensurate with the ground conditions and depth of the hole. Survey the hole utilising surveying tools at depths required by the client.
