This role requires an energetic individual who can engage with children and young people in active pursuits such as:
- Football: With a football pitch on-site, you’ll have the chance to join in and help young people stay active and have fun.
- Fishing: Whether down by the lakes or on the beach, you’ll be supporting activities that take young people outdoors.
A typical day in the life at Rhos Cottage is varied and fulfilling:
Responsibilities:
- Supporting physical and emotional needs to ensure young people feel safe and cared for.
- Providing personal care.
- Being a positive role model and encouraging healthy choices.
- Promoting independence by supporting a range of activities, such as social outings, work, and school-based tasks.
- Adapting support to individual needs, including assisting with decision-making and problem-solving.
- Maintaining accurate records of activities, progress, and any incidents.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- A can-do attitude and the ability to stay positive even in challenging situations.
- Resilience to work with young people who may have complex emotional and behavioural needs.
- Previous care experience is helpful, but not essential—what matters most is your passion for supporting young people.
- A valid driver’s license and flexibility around shift times.
- Compassion, empathy, and great communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Reliability—being punctual and trustworthy is essential in this role.
