As part of Orbis Education and Care, Priority Childcare provides specialist support to young people who may have experienced childhood trauma, face mental health challenges, or both. A day in the life of a Support Worker at Blaen Y Waun:

  • Supporting children and young people’s emotional and physical needs in a safe, caring environment.
  • Acting as a positive role model, encouraging independence and confidence.
  • Supporting with school, social and work-based activities, as well as community outings.
  • Tailoring support to meet individual needs and development plans.
  • Recording progress, activities, and any incidents clearly and accurately.
  • Helping with everyday tasks such as meal preparation and general household duties.
  • Supporting at Ty Canol, the second home of Blaen Y Waun just a few minutes up the road.

What you’ll need as a Support Worker at Blaen Y Waun:

  • A compassionate, resilient, and caring nature.
  • A valid driving licence (essential).
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including sleep-ins and weekends.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Previous care experience is helpful but not essential – full training is provided.

Please note: This role involves regulated activity with children and requires an Enhanced DBS with a barred list check.
