As a Production Maintenance Technician you will play a key role in maintaining, inspecting, and supporting production machinery to ensure peak performance, minimal downtime, and operational excellence. You will work closely with the maintenance team, departmental managers, and external suppliers while developing a strong understanding of how our digital print and finishing equipment operates. Your focus will be on equipment reliability, efficient workflows, and maintaining a safe, proactive engineering environment.
Annual Salary: £24,000
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance activities across digital printers (e.g., Canon IX3200, R2000 DTM) and finishing equipment such as binders, guillotines, CNCs, and related machinery.
- Support minor repairs, troubleshooting, and refurbishment of machine components.
- Procedures & Documentation
- Build, update, and follow maintenance procedures for all production equipment.
- Ensure accurate completion of maintenance logs, schedules, and documentation.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels for maintenance materials and consumables.
- Performance & Efficiency
- Track and analyze machine performance, including uptime, downtime, and fail rates using internal systems.
- Support continuous improvement of machinery reliability and production efficiency.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Liaise with the maintenance team, team leaders, and departmental managers to ensure machinery is operating at peak efficiency.
- Coordinate with external supplier engineers for callouts, servicing, and issue resolution.
- Report regularly to the Line Manager regarding machine condition, faults, ongoing issues, and maintenance requirements.
- Workplace Standards
- Ensure machines are prepared, maintained, and always kept clean.
- Maintain a tidy, safe, and compliant working environment in line with Health & Safety regulations.
- Perform other reasonable duties as required by management.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience & Technical Skills
- Proven experience in a general engineering or maintenance role.
- Experience with digital printers or finishing equipment is highly desirable but not essential.
- Basic mechanical aptitude with a willingness to further develop technical skills.
- Personal Qualities
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a varied workload across dozens of machines.
- A pragmatic and methodical mindset, especially when responding to machinery breakdowns.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
- Good communication skills and confidence in reporting technical issues.
- Ability to work shift patterns when required.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 25kg.
