We are looking for an experienced Production Planner to join a busy print and packaging manufacturing environment in Central Scotland. This role is responsible for planning, scheduling and coordinating production activities to ensure efficient workflow, maximum machine utilisation and on-time delivery to customers.
You will work closely with production, sales, pre-press and supply chain teams to ensure jobs move smoothly through the manufacturing process while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule print and packaging production jobs to meet customer delivery requirements
- Create and maintain daily and weekly production schedules across presses and finishing departments
- Coordinate closely with production, pre-press and finishing teams to optimise workflow
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to resolve delays or bottlenecks
- Liaise with sales and customer service teams regarding job priorities and delivery expectations
- Ensure materials, substrates, inks and packaging components are available for scheduled jobs
- Maintain accurate production planning data within the company ERP/MIS system
- Analyse production capacity and machine utilisation to improve efficiency
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations
- Provide clear communication to production teams regarding schedule changes and priorities
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in production planning or scheduling within print, packaging or manufacturing
- Strong understanding of print production processes (litho, flexo, digital or packaging production)
- Experience working with ERP, MIS or production planning systems
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience within packaging or label production
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
- Familiarity with print MIS systems such as EFI, Tharstern or similar
