  • A leading global technology company is looking for an

Technical Project Manager to join a highly technical artificial intelligence research organisation in London.

This is an unusual opportunity for someone who understands machine learning, AI or LLM research but enjoys coordinating people, solving operational problems and enabling technical teams rather than spending their day coding.

You will work alongside researchers and engineers across multiple fast-moving research workstreams, helping remove blockers, coordinate dependencies, track milestones and ensure teams have the resources and organisational support required to deliver.

The position is particularly well suited to someone coming from

AI/ML research, research engineering, technical project management or technical program management who wants to move closer to project/program leadership.

  • What you’ll be doing
  • Coordinate multiple AI and machine-learning research workstreams.
  • Identify blockers and take ownership of resolving issues preventing researchers from progressing.
  • Track milestones, timelines, dependencies, risks and project status.
  • Translate broad goals and strategy into structured project plans.
  • Work closely with researchers, engineers and cross-functional teams.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across legal, policy, communications and risk.
  • Support review processes associated with datasets, research benchmarks and open-source initiatives.
  • Help research teams manage capacity and resources, including compute requirements.
  • Provide clear project updates, metrics, risks and mitigation plans.
  • Handle fast-moving operational issues affecting the London research team.
  • What we’re looking for
  • You should have hands‐on knowledge or experience within at least one of:
  • Machine Learning
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Large Language Models
  • Recommendation Systems
  • Pattern Recognition
  • Data Mining
  • Research Engineering

You’ll also need

  • Strong project or program coordination skills.
  • Experience working across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management.
  • Ability to work independently in an ambiguous environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritise competing workstreams.
  • Confidence operating in a high-speed research environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.

Experience managing projects across remote or distributed teams would be particularly useful.

Why this role is interesting

This isn’t a conventional project management position.

You’ll work directly with cutting-edge AI researchers and engineers while gaining exposure to how research strategy is translated into execution.

It could also be an excellent career move for a technically strong

Master’s/Ph D graduate, research engineer or ML professional looking to move from pure research or engineering into project, program or product management without losing their connection to AI.
