We're looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to join our Procurement team and play a key role in delivering strategic procurement activity across the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys building strong stakeholder relationships, leading complex procurement initiatives, and delivering commercial value through effective supplier and contract management. You'll be responsible for managing procurement activity from sourcing and tendering through to contract negotiation, while supporting the organisation in achieving its strategic objectives.
What you'll be doing
- Lead end-to-end procurement activity including sourcing, tender management, supplier evaluation and contract negotiations.
- Develop category strategies that maximise value, minimise risk and support business objectives.
- Partner with stakeholders across the organisation to understand requirements and deliver customer-focused procurement solutions.
- Support Supplier Performance Managers in managing key third-party relationships effectively.
- Drive commercial outcomes through cost management, supplier rationalisation and risk mitigation.
- Provide expert procurement advice, coaching and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders.
- Support procurement governance, policy development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to strategic programmes and projects, leading procurement workstreams that deliver meaningful business change.
- Help embed best practice procurement, supplier risk management and ESG considerations throughout the organisation.
What we're looking for
- Proven experience managing complex indirect procurement activity.
- Strong commercial acumen and contract negotiation skills.
- Experience leading competitive tender exercises and delivering measurable savings.
- A track record of managing procurement workstreams within high-value or business-critical projects.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Strong analytical skills and confidence working with procurement and financial data.
- Experience of supplier relationship and performance management.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across multiple business functions.
Essential Qualifications
- Professionally qualified through MCIPS (Member of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) or working towards completion.
