Are you a Vocational Tutor, trainer or skilled practitioner who wants to help young adults with SEN build skills for life and work? This could be your next step.
We're recruiting a Vocational Tutor for a small, friendly specialist college in Stanwell, Staines. Learners are aged 16 to 25 with SEN and learning disabilities, and learning here is hands on, practical and focused on employability and independence. It's a charity with around 50 learners, so you'll get to know every learner by name.
What you'll do as Vocational Tutor
- Lead practical sessions in areas like horticulture, catering or employability
- Break tasks into clear, simple steps so every learner can take part
- Build English, maths and work skills into real tasks
- Work with Teaching Assistants to support each learner's goals
- Track progress and celebrate every win
What you'll need
- Practical skills in a vocational area such as horticulture, catering, hospitality, construction or retail
- Experience teaching, training, assessing or supervising others
- A patient, warm manner with young adults
- A child and adult barred list DBS, or willingness to apply
- SEN experience is a plus, not essential. If you have the skills and the right attitude, we'll support you with the rest
- A driving licence helps, as the site isn't easy to reach by public transport
Why join as our Vocational Tutor?
- Weekly pay
- Term time only, with your holidays free
- Temp to perm opportunities
- A small, supportive college where you see your impact every day
- A dedicated consultant who works solely in SEN
