Principal Education is recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants for an outstanding secondary school in the Hackney area. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting in September 2026, with the potential to become a permanent position following a successful qualifying period. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly supportive inclusion team and make a genuine difference to the education and wellbeing of young people with additional needs.

The Role

You will work closely with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), supporting them both in the classroom and through targeted interventions. You may provide one-to-one support or work with small groups of students with a range of needs including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)

The successful candidate will help students access learning, build confidence, promote independence and support positive behaviour throughout the school day.

Responsibilities

  • Support students with SEND in classrooms and during targeted interventions
  • Provide one-to-one or small-group support
  • Assist with delivering tailored strategies to meet individual learning needs
  • Contribute to positive behaviour management and safeguarding practices

We Are Looking For Candidates Who

  • Have previous experience working with children or young people with SEND
  • Have experience within a school, college, alternative provision or similar setting (preferred)
  • Are patient, empathetic and resilient
  • Can build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Have strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
