Principal Education is seeking committed and enthusiastic educators to work as Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) in special needs schools and resourced mainstream provision across Tower Hamlets and East London. Our office is based at St Katharine Docks, so these are schools we know well and visit regularly.
The role: As an LSA you will support children with EHCPs, working either 1:1 or in small groups. Settings include specialist provision for autism, communication and interaction needs, and complex and severe learning difficulties, as well as mainstream schools with dedicated SEN units. You will work alongside teachers and the SEN team to create a safe and inclusive learning environment, providing the consistency that leads to positive outcomes. These roles typically require full time availability (Monday to Friday). Immediate and October starts, long term, many going permanent.
What you MUST demonstrate:
- Right to work in the UK
- Experience supporting pupils with special educational needs and behavioural challenges, or strong transferable experience
- Patience, empathy, composure and diligence
- Flexibility and adaptability
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new application
- Overseas police clearance if you have lived abroad for 6+ months in the last 5 years
- Based in London or within a commutable distance
Please note: classroom experience is desirable but not essential. Support work, care work, SEN nannying and relevant degrees are all welcomed.
Pay and benefits:
- £105 to £130 per day, depending on experience and setting
