Principal Education is recruiting a Personal Care Assistant on behalf of a specialist school in Brent, starting from Monday 2 November. This is a full time Personal Care Assistant role, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, term time only, paying £105 to £125 per day depending on experience.
As a Personal Care Assistant, you'll support children and young people with complex needs, including severe and profound learning disabilities (SLD and PMLD) and physical disabilities. You'll help pupils with personal and intimate care, moving and handling, mealtimes and daily routines, always with dignity and warmth, so they feel safe and ready to learn.
This Personal Care Assistant role is ideal if you've worked as a Healthcare Assistant, Care Worker or Support Worker, or if you're looking for PMLD Teaching Assistant or Care Assistant roles in schools.
Your duties as a Personal Care Assistant will include:
- Supporting pupils with personal and intimate care, with dignity and respect
- Moving and handling, including hoists and safe transfers
- Supporting pupils at mealtimes, including those with feeding needs
- Working alongside teachers, therapists and nurses as part of the class team
To be considered for this Personal Care Assistant role, you'll need:
- Experience of personal care, in a school, care home, hospital or the community
- A calm, patient and caring approach
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
- Moving and handling, epilepsy or PEG feeding training is a bonus
