Earn £180 to £240 per day as an SEN Teacher in a specialist school where small classes and a strong support team let you focus on what matters: teaching. If you have QTS and a passion for pupils with ASD and severe learning difficulties, this long term role is for you.

Principal Education is recruiting an SEN Teacher on behalf of a specialist school in Harmondsworth, Hillingdon, with good transport links via West Drayton, starting from Monday 2 November. This is a full time SEN Teacher role, Monday to Friday, [hours], term time only, paying £180 to £240 per day depending on experience.

As an SEN Teacher, you'll lead a small class of pupils with autism spectrum conditions (ASC) and severe learning difficulties (SLD). You'll plan personalised learning around each pupil's EHCP targets, and use visual supports, structure and communication tools like PECS and Makaton to help every child make progress.

You won't be doing it alone. As an SEN Teacher here, you'll have an experienced team of teaching assistants in your class and work alongside therapists, so you can spend your energy on teaching and on the moments of progress that make this work worthwhile.

This SEN Teacher role is ideal if you're an experienced special school teacher, or a mainstream teacher with strong SEN experience, such as leading a resource base or nurture group, who wants to make SEN your specialism.

Your duties as an SEN Teacher will include:

  • Planning and teaching personalised lessons for a small class
  • Setting and tracking progress against EHCP targets
  • Leading and deploying your class teaching assistants
  • Working with therapists, families and other professionals

To be considered for this SEN Teacher role, you'll need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching pupils with SEN, ideally ASD or SLD
  • A calm, structured and patient approach
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply

Experience with PECS, Makaton, TEACCH or Attention Autism is a bonus.

What Principal Education offers:

  • £180 to £240 per day, depending on experience
  • Small classes with a full team of teaching assistants behind you
  • The chance to meet the school and see a class in action before you commit
  • A long term role with a route into a permanent position
  • A dedicated SEN consultant who supports you from your first day
  • Over 700 five star Google reviews from candidates and schools

Principal Education is committed to equality of opportunity and welcomes applications from everyone, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation. If you need any reasonable adjustments during the application process, just let us know.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All roles are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, references and our full safer recruitment checks.
