Principal Education is seeking hard working and enthusiastic educators to work as Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) in special needs schools and resourced provision across Barking and Dagenham and the wider East London area. These roles suit people who want to build a career in SEN properly, in settings where you stay with the same pupils long enough to see them progress.
The role involves supporting children and young people with EHCPs, working either 1:1 or in small groups. Settings include specialist provision for autism, speech, language and communication needs, and complex and severe learning difficulties, alongside mainstream schools with resourced SEN units. You will work closely with teachers, therapists and SENCOs to create a safe and inclusive learning environment. These roles typically require full time availability (Monday to Friday). Immediate and October starts available, long term, many leading to permanent positions.
What you MUST demonstrate:
- Right to work in the UK
- Experience supporting pupils with special educational needs, or transferable experience with children and young people
- Patience, empathy, composure and diligence
- Flexibility and adaptability
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered with the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new application
- Overseas police clearance if you have lived abroad for 6+ months in the last 5 years
- Based in London or within a commutable distance
Please note: your experience does not have to come from a school. Care and support work, SEN nannying, ABA tutoring, and psychology or education degrees are all strong backgrounds for these roles.
Pay and benefits:
- £105 to £130 per day, depending on experience and setting
- Paid weekly
- Potential higher rates for ongoing roles, aligned with school pay scales
- Full training and induction provided by the schools we work with
- The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children's learning and development
Submitting an updated CV with your expression of interest will strengthen your application.
