Site H&S Manager

Major Construction Project | North Yorkshire

£40,000–£60,000 + benefits | Permanent | Site-based

Are you an experienced H&S professional looking for your next major construction project? Or maybe you are a construction professional with a few years' experience looking to take your first step into Health & Safety?

Either way, this opportunity could be worth a conversation.

Whether you're an experienced H&S Manager, Advisor or Coordinator looking for your next major project, or a construction professional with several years' experience and a relevant H&S qualification such as NEBOSH who is ready to make the move into H&S, there is a genuine opportunity here to develop your career.

For the right person, you'll have access to significant mentoring, guidance and professional development, with genuine scope to build a long-term career in H&S. Principal People are working with a growing consultancy supporting a major construction project in North Yorkshire, involving multiple Tier 1 contractors, specialist subcontractors and a complex live working environment.

This is not a traditional compliance or inspection role. You’ll be embedded within the project team, providing practical H&S leadership, coordinating multiple parties and influencing stakeholders across the project.

What will you be doing?

• Daily site walks and proactive H&S monitoring

• Practical H&S advice to contractors and the project team

• Managing contractor, trade and construction interfaces

• Identifying and managing key construction and people/plant risks

• Challenging contractors and driving corrective action

• Chairing a weekly site-wide H&S and coordination meeting

• Producing weekly/monthly H&S reporting

• Supporting the monthly site-wide coordination pack, covering upcoming works, risks, interfaces and operational impacts

• Communicating confidently with everyone from site operatives to senior stakeholders

• Producing professional reports and presentations using Word, Excel and PowerPoint

What we're looking for

• Confident, personable and practical

• Strong communication and organisational skills

• Comfortable challenging contractors and senior stakeholders

• Able to chair meetings and coordinate multiple stakeholders

• Strong construction knowledge

• Competent with Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Ideally comfortable using AI tools to support reporting and coordination
