Principal People are pleased to be supporting a specialist consultancy with the recruitment of an Engineering Quantity Surveyor to support a major engineering and infrastructure project based within a live operational environment in North Yorkshire. This is an excellent opportunity to support a technically complex engineering and construction project involving mechanical, process engineering, industrial, and infrastructure works within a highly regulated environment.

The successful Engineering Quantity Surveyor will provide commercial oversight across engineering and construction activities, supporting cost control, contract management, valuations, change control, and commercial reporting throughout the lifecycle of the project. This role would suit a commercially aware Quantity Surveyor with experience within engineering, process engineering, utilities, heavy industry, infrastructure, or industrial construction environments who enjoys working closely with operational and project delivery teams.

The successful Engineering Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for:

  • Managing commercial activities across engineering and construction works
  • Supporting valuations, forecasting, cost reporting, and change management
  • Reviewing quotations, variations, compensation events, and commercial risks
  • Monitoring site progress and validating commercial information
  • Supporting contract administration under NEC or similar forms of contract
  • Working closely with operational, engineering, and project delivery teams
  • Escalating commercial risks and supporting early warning processes where required

The ideal Engineering Quantity Surveyor will have:

  • Engineering, process engineering, or industrial Quantity Surveying background or similar
  • Experience within industrial, infrastructure, utilities, engineering, or heavy construction projects
  • Strong NEC contract knowledge
  • Good commercial awareness and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work within a live operational or high hazard environment

This role offers a flexible hybrid arrangement, typically involving 1-2 days per week on site in North Yorkshire with the remaining time remote.
