The Role
As the Health and Safety Advisor, you will play a critical hands-on role in supporting and driving the safety-first culture. Working closely with the Head of Health and Safety you will ensure compliance with statutory obligations and champion HSE best practices across the business to develop and drive the ever-evolving Safety Culture of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily HSE operations and assist managers in meeting HSE requirements
- Maintain and develop the company's HSE management systems (ISO 14001 & ISO 45001)
- Provide up-to-date guidance on regulatory compliance and best practice
- Participate in change management projects to ensure safe implementation
- Deliver monthly toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions
- Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics
- Conduct workplace inspections, safety tours, audits, and follow-up actions
- Review and update safety procedures in line with current regulations
- Support the ongoing Risk Assessment process and ensure proactive risk management
- Manage COSHH data and chemical handling awareness
- Lead accident and near-miss reporting processes, ensuring timely corrective actions
- Assist in investigating incidents and generating reports in line with company policy
What We're Looking For
- Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, ACOPs, and industry guidance
- Realistic and practical approach to risk assessment
- Experience with COSHH and safe chemical handling practices
- Solid understanding of contractor management and control
- Experience of Chemical exposure monitoring
- Working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills across all levels
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Proven Internal auditing knowledge and experience
- Ability to work independently and drive positive change
Qualifications & Experience
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- Experience in accident/incident investigation
- Exposure to sustainability and environmental initiatives
- Experience within the Manufacturing Industry
