Principal People are partnering with a growing construction company, primarily operating in the residential sector, to recruit a Building Control Surveyor due to continued business growth. This key on-site role will involve working closely with developers, contractors, architects, designers, and client-appointed Building Control Bodies, providing expert guidance and ensuring statutory compliance is achieved, documented, and tracked. You will be engaged from the early design stage through to full project lifecycle oversight, supporting clients across the North West. This highly autonomous role allows you to manage your own diary and work flexibly. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will join a growing team and gain exposure to a wide variety of residential and housebuilding projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out plan checks, site inspections, and technical assessments across projects
- Ensure compliance with Building Regulations 2022, Building Safety Act, and relevant Approved Documents
- Support the Building Regulations Principal Designer function and identify compliance risks early
- Advise project teams on fire safety, structural, and accessibility requirements
- Liaise with Building Control Bodies to support approvals and resolve issues
- Manage workload independently while meeting programme deadlines
The Successful Building Control Surveyor will hold:
- RICS-accredited qualification, or Chartered/Associate level membership
- Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Building Control or Building Surveying
- Strong knowledge of Building Regulations 2022, Building Safety Act, CDM Regulations, and fire safety/structural standards
The Successful Building Control Surveyor will receive:
- Salary up to £65,000
- £4,800 Car Allowance + Mileage
- 23 days annual leave + Bank Holidays
- Pension scheme
