Lead GP – Urgent Treatment Centre Two administrative sessions per week with the option for up to 2 further sessions working in a clinical capacity within the Urgent Treatment Centre. We are seeking a strong and values driven lead General Practitioner (GP) to join our Urgent Treatment Centre; whilst working alongside fellow GP\’s, and Advanced Practitioners (APs) we expect the post holder to deliver and meet the NHS UTC Standards as we continue our commissioning model. Working alongside the UTC Clinical Manager, the Lead GP needs to have a high-quality agenda in order to lead on clinical pathways and standards, lead on clinical governance, audits and professional development of the UTC GPs and APs, alongside ensuring financial governance and value for money. One of the aims of PML is to develop the UTC as a learning environment for doctors in training and APs and are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled educationalist to take this forward.
We expect the post holder to have a full understanding of the UTC environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an established GP to further develop clinical management and leadership experience in a multi-professional setting. You will have a track record of excellence in care delivery, have experience of leadership and change in a related setting. The Clinical Lead for UTC As Clinical Lead for the UTC, you will oversee delivery and drive development with a clear focus on continuous improvement of the patient experience.
You will be responsible for: Clinical governance of the UTC including audit, quality improvement and staff development Close collaboration with colleagues in OUH to improve patient care and patient pathways Responsible for quality of the service, including skill and competencies of GPs Clinical expertise, making a final clinical decision when needed Leading on investigations of complaints & incidents, ensuring these are always reported and treated as an opportunity to improve services Expertise on CQC outcomes and compliance in the delivery of the service Recruitment & development of team members Enabling every member of the clinical and admin team to actively contribute to service improvements whether this is through sharing achievements, taking agreed, calculated risks or expressing challenge / dissatisfaction without prejudice Work closely with PML Directors to develop the service in agreement with our commissioners Ensure service is aligned to National and Local Health policy, and any implications understood by the PML management Developing / reviewing evidence-based clinical protocols/guidelines to drive clinical intervention Critically analysing data/information to inform/change patient care practices Develop and maintain appropriate documentation/records in accordance to PML policy Maintain own professional and personal development including revalidation requirements Working alongside the clinical team to triage referrals, offer virtual appointments and / or in-person clinics Assessing the health needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems Screening patients for disease risk factors, early signs of illness and health education Contributing to the effectiveness of the team, reflecting on own and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the teams performance and service expansion Supporting our complaints policy and procedure to ensure proper investigation and appropriate follow-up action in the event of a complaint being made about any aspect of the service provided or any personal provider of the service Contributing to individual case discussions at MDTs Collecting data necessary for excellent patient record keeping and for audit purposes Maintaining strict confidentiality around any information that warrants it relating to patients and their carers, practice staff and other healthcare workers, the practice or business organisations. Promoting and maintain own and others health and safety and security as defined in PMLs Health and Safety Policy, including reporting any potential risks. Promoting the equality, diversity and rights of patients, carers and colleagues CPD and training programme as required to maintain own skills and / or implemented by PML as part of this employment Participate in annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development to meet GMC revalidation requirements Recognising the importance of effective communication within the team, with patients and their carers, and using alternative methods of communication when required Apply PML practice policies, standards, guidance and procedures MAIN RESPONSILITIBTIES: With the Director of Community Services, lead the UTC team taking responsibility and being accountable for all aspects of the UTC and its performance, including the delivery of operational KPIs and financial management. Working closely with the UTC clinical Manager, ensuring that a safe and effective patient service is always delivered, in line with national and locally agreed standards ensuring effective and efficient use of resources.

To lead the clinical governance agenda within the service and ensure appropriate governance arrangements are in place. To lead on and respond to audits, incidents and complaints and ensure learning is embedded in the service.
To lead on issues relating to the medical workforce, this will include taking responsibility for recruitment, retention, job planning, absence management and the appraisal process. Actively support the rota and medical staffing to ensure safe staffing levels across the UTC To actively manage sickness of all medical colleagues and facilitate return to work and wellbeing conversations. To ensure improvements against CQC inspections, Audits and learning events are embedded and promoted within the UTC service and across the Trust. To ensure all medical colleagues of all grades meet their full potential and have annual appraisals.
To contribute to clinical networks both internal and external to the Trust as requested to do so in conjunction with the Director of Community Services. To ensure that the UTC manages its income and expenditure budget within target and ensures optimum financial performance including identification and achievement of cost saving programme. To operate within the required behaviours and values of PML. Lead by example in the delivery of the teams performance.

Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, allied health professionals, and administrative staff, to deliver integrated care. Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices within the UTC.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines and protocols to provide safe and effective patient care. Continuing Education: Ensure all UTC GPs and ACPs stay current with medical advancements, guidelines, and best practices through continuous professional development. Lead on job planning for medical staff within the UTC PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT: Professional Growth: Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge. Training: Participate in training programs and workshops to maintain and improve clinical competencies.
Feedback and Reflection: Regularly seek feedback on performance and reflect on practice to identify areas for improvement. Mentorship: Mentor and support junior staff and trainees, contributing to a culture of learning and development within the team. Leadership: provide medical leadership to clinical care, team working, education and training, and refer to the Medical Director on any Professional matter.
