Our client is a large, multi-site organisation seeking an IT Proximity Engineer to provide hands-on technical support across several locations within the Hull area. Working closely with a centralised Service Desk and wider IT teams, you will play a key role in supporting users, maintaining IT infrastructure, and ensuring reliable day-to-day technology operations. The Role

The IT Proximity Engineer is responsible for delivering both on-site and remote IT support across multiple business locations. The successful candidate will provide first and second-line support, assist with infrastructure projects, maintain IT equipment, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of IT services. This role requires a proactive and organised individual who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with end users, and supporting business-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site and remote IT support to end users across multiple locations within the Hull area.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Escalate complex incidents to specialist teams where appropriate.
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventative support activities.
  • Support and maintain desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripheral equipment.
  • Assist with hardware installations, device deployments, upgrades, and software rollouts.
  • Maintain accurate records of IT assets, incidents, requests, and resolutions.
  • Support IT infrastructure and business technology projects.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to users on IT systems and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with IT security standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with Service Desk, Infrastructure, Cyber Security, and Operational Technology teams.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the IT function.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in an IT support, Service Desk, Desktop Support, or Field Support role.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Windows environments and end-user computing.
  • Experience supporting PCs, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and general IT hardware.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between local sites.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting manufacturing, production, logistics, or operational environments.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 technologies.
  • Experience using IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms.
  • Exposure to IT infrastructure projects and hardware rollouts.

The Package:

If successful our client is offering a salary between £34,000 - £37,500 per annum, favourable holiday allowance, company contributed pension scheme, development opportunities, plus many more.
